Ann Votaw’s Many Hats … and Hatless Headshots
Originally from Fort Wayne, Ind., Ann Votaw lives in Manhattan with her cat Malcolm. She has an M.A. in Health Education and Promotion from Lehman College in the Bronx. She earned her B.S. in Journalism with minors in Dance and Political Science from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. She has danced on cruise ships and performed in regional musical theater productions of Cabaret (Texas), Chicago, (Hunyak), My Fair Lady, and West Side Story. She has extensive experience teaching fitness and wellness to older adults and other special populations. Her writing has appeared in Marie Claire, Crain’s, Observer, Dance Magazine, and Huffington Post. Since 2017, she has portrayed Mrs. Claus in various venues and is a graduate of Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School. She dreams of performing spoken word segments about Mrs. C, using the best bits for a book about gender stereotypes and religious “goodness.”
VINTAGE
I love vintage clothing. This photo was taken on the grounds of Purdue University Fort Wayne, my hometown. The robe and hat are from Wolf & Dessaur, what was once a grand department store.
