Ann Votaw is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) whose scope includes designing cost-effective wellness programs for individuals and communities. With a Masters degree in Health Education and Promotion, she enjoys the teamwork of marketing successful events targeted to specific populations. Leaning on her background in entertainment, she has planned open houses and health fairs that have included magic tricks and a client-based merengue flash mob. A lively speaker and writer, Ann has also led lectures on fall prevention, diabetes, nutrition, and sexual health for college crowds and ages 60 and better. Currently, she is a recreational therapist at an Innovative Senior Center where she expanded yoga programs to include joint-friendly props to meet all levels.
Ann loves bringing recreation to people suffering from food insecurity, social isolation, and the angst of too much technology. Her personal interest in mindfulness — including yoga, meditation, dance, Pilates, Tai Chi for Arthritis, and MELT — has guided her to teach outside of comfy studios and into real-life environments, from board rooms to Bronx playgrounds.
